Types of Modalities Used in Session
-
Somatic Therapy
Somatic techniques focus on the mind body connection. Our bodies hold our traumas or “keeps the score”. Pent-up tension from stress and trauma can be relieved with somatic methods like breath work, exercise, and meditation.
-
Art Therapy
Art encourages self expression when the words do not come easy. Art forms can include painting, drawing, or writing to process your thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Art therapy has been known to boost confidence and induce relaxation.
-
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
With CBT we challenge irrational thoughts. Changing how you think and what you do has a direct effect on how you feel. It can also change your perspective on life’s toughest challenges. With CBT we put your “thoughts on trial” to encourage rational thoughts that lead to healthy behaviors.
-
Holistic Techniques
Holistic techniques will be centered around you as a “whole”. Together we focus on your mind, body, and spirit. This practice explores what you put in your body, how you process your thoughts, feelings, and emotions, and your surroundings. We tune in to you!
-
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT is used to encourage changing behavioral patterns that may cause harm. With DBT we will explore techniques to regulate emotions, manage distress, and build healthier relationships. Many of these practices are mindfulness based and easy to practice at home.
-
Solution Focused Therapy (SFT)
Solution focus encourages taking action to develop a mindset of effective problem solving. This technique focuses on setting goals and achieving them. This method, same as the others, is empowering.
